Peluso di Modica, Sicily

Peluso di Modica, Sicily

The town of Modica, in Sicily, is known for its wonderful soft almond "marzipane" pastry and fine dark chocolate that features granular cane sugar crystals.

This special chocolate is processed at a low temperature, as was the method of the Aztecs, so that the cocoa butter melts, leaving the sugar crystals intact. This results in a natural white film found on the surface that is consistent with this ancient method.

This exceptional chocolate is nutritious and rich in flavonoids, and is best enjoyed with grappa or a dessert wine such as Moscato. You can also melt it in milk for a delicious drink or grate over cappuccino.

The marzapane is so wonderful, you can tell it is made with quality ingredients at first bite. Enjoy these fine, delightful pastries made in the Sicilian tradition with espresso or a desert wine.

These also make great gifts.
Mangia bene. Vivi felice!
