This "Presepe", or Nativity Scene, from Sicily was made by the Famulari family of artisans in the northern coastal town of Santo Stefano di Camastra. The figures are all hand made of terracotta and individually dressed with great attention to detail using sheep wool, cotton, leather, and wood. This Nativity Scene has figures that are about one half the size of the larger scene depicted above. The detail in this smaller Presepe is still very realistic. The grotto is made with a ceramic base and wood, bark, moss, and twigs adorning the main structure.
